Social Determinants of Health
This long-standing group works to develop a strong cross-sectoral voice for Eastern Ontario on issues involving social determinants of health and their impact on children and youth. Previous work of the group includes focus on poverty and housing.
The SDoH Working Group launched the Workbook on Child Health and Poverty in 2006 and hosted the CYHNEO Poverty Reduction consultations in March 2008.
Based on recommendations identified in the Collaborative Blueprint for Action: Promoting Cross-Sectoral Integration for the Healthy Development of Children and Youth in Eastern Ontario 2009-2013, the SDoH working group is currently developing a Poverty Audit Tool. The Poverty Audit Tool will allow organizations, services, and practitioners to assess the impact of their policies and practices on children, youth and families living in poverty.
The group hopes to pilot the tool Spring 2010.
