What is Respite? An Overview

Respite is simply "a break" for families who care for a family member with a disability or special need.

Taking a break from the demands of care-giving has many benefits. It gives the family time to take care of other important priorities including rest and relaxation or a vacation. It can also give the family member who has a disability, opportunities to meet new people, learn new skills and to be introduced to new opportunities.

Is respite service right for you? Go through our site to explore some of the things you'll need to consider, and to find out what's available in your neighbourhood or community.
