Provincial Candidates challenged to Take a Stand on Child and Youth Health

Parents' Lifelines of Eastern Ontario (PLEO) and the Ottawa Child/Youth Housing Advocacy Initiative (OCHAI) working group want the health of our children and youth to become a priority for Ontario’s government

We invited all of the provincial candidates running in this region’s 12 electoral districts to share their views on improving Ontario's child and youth mental healthcare system and reducing the rates of youth suicide, on making Ontario the healthiest province, and on housing and its impact on children’s health and well-being.

You can read the responses of all the party leaders as well as 7 of the Liberals candidates, 4 of the NDP candidates, 6 of the Green party candidates. We did not hear back from Progressive Conservative candidates.

Find out who agrees that a better overall system of mental health supports and services for Ontario’s children and youth is urgently needed.

Discover who is willing to increase funding to help schools implement a health and physical activity curriculum and reintroduce home economics back into school curriculums.

Also learn who understands that housing is a key determinant of child and youth health and recognizes that a significant number of children and youth living in Eastern Ontario do not have access to acceptable and stable housing, which negatively affects their health.

Find all the candidate's responses below.
